How to Add a Temporary Street

Question Submitted by Barrie Fire and Emergency Services, July 7, 2009

One of the most common requirements is adding new streets that have not yet been added by municipal GIS.

This is a requirement due to the fact that many jurisdictions grow more quickly than city GIS can keep up, and require emergency response service.

Can I Show Future Street Closings?

Question Submitted by BFES - July 03, 2008

Some clients have added a geomarker type called “Street Close Pending” - with a green symbol instead of a red one. This allows dispatchers to see upcoming street closings in a separate geomarker section and activate them (by editing and thereby changing the geomarker type to a normal closing) when the street closing time arrives.

How is the Wiki Format an Improvement Over E-Mail?

The wiki is an improvement of traditional email communications in 4 areas:

1 - Vastly Improves Project Coordination

It automatically keeps everyone involved in the project in the loop. Often times the biggest problem a project runs into is lack of transparency and communications. If things are being discussed and agreed on between subsets people without the entire knowledge of the group then the level of clarity and accountability goes down. …

It is recommended that you make a backup of the current EMMobile.exe before replacing it following the instructions below.

	* Take the new EMMobile.exe you received (if it was sent as a zip file then you will need to unzip it) and overwrite the current EMMobile.exe. You can find the current EMMobile.exe in the install directory (typically C:\Program Files\STI\EME\EMMobile).

Question Submitted by Yarmouth Fire - July 21, 2008

The EME is designed to be as flexible as possible so very few things are centrally managed. By having the system structured so that each window is responsible for storing its own settings this allows the system to be configured to handle as many different requirements and situations as possible.

Question Submitted by BFES - July 02, 2008

When you <TAB> between fields in the EME you must be sure your cursor is active in the next window and the window is ready to accept input. If you start typing before the you are completely in the next field and before the system is ready to accept input you may experience what seems like a loss of characters.
